Take the next step and support our lakes!
Are you looking for a way to connect with our lakes this spring and summer? Here are 8 ways you can support Clean Lakes Alliance as we work toward protecting and improving the lakes of the Yahara Watershed.

1. Connect with Clean Lakes
Join the Clean Lakes Alliance staff at the café in our office building at Verex Plaza this summer! After making the difficult decision to cancel our Community Breakfast due to public health concerns with COVID-19, we are excited to offer this series of FREE events in our office space donated in-kind by Foley & Lardner LLP. Attendees will receive complimentary coffee or beverage and have a chance to discuss the 2019 State of the Lakes Report.
Join us for one of the dates below where we’ll share updates on our progress, where we’re headed, and review the state of the lakes. Online registration is requested.

2. Loop the Lake
Our usual ride around Lake Monona moves to a virtual ride to keep everybody at a safe social distance. Starting on Monday, June 15th, riders can ride ANYWHERE to support our lakes. Registration for the week-long event, ending on Father’s Day, Sunday June 21st, still includes a super soft event tee to show everybody you rode a bike to support our lakes!

3. Race for our lakes
Jump into Lake Monona on Sunday, August 9th for Big Swell Swim Madison! Training triathletes and recreational swimmers alike will enjoy this 1.2 or 2.4-mile chip-timed race. As always, you’ll support our work to protect and improve water quality in our Yahara lakes!

4. Live limnology online
Join us LIVE ONLINE to see what experts have to say about the issues facing our lakes at our monthly Yahara Lakes 101 lecture series. These talks, which can now be viewed online from your home, are engaging for people with all levels of knowledge about the science behind our lakes. Join us during the dates listed below for a refreshing view and great conversation about our waters.

5. Become a lake partner
Healthy lakes are an important part of our community and local economy. Lake Partners are business or organization ‘members’ who make an annual, tax-deductible donation outside of events or sponsorships. As a Lake Partner, you’ll have free admission to our monthly Yahara Lakes 101 talks for all employees and receive recognition at our Leadership Luncheon & Community Awards.

6. Volunteer at a lake event
Volunteer at an event with Clean Lakes Alliance this summer and help more people engage with our lakes. Whether you want to cheer on riders in our Loop the Lake Bike Ride or kayak alongside competitors in our Big Swell Swim event, we have a fun opportunity for you to support our lakes.

7. Row your boat
Add some excitement to your summer! Head to any Madison Boats location and get out on the water. Creating connections with the Yahara River Watershed will help keep our lakes at the center of our community!

8. Tee-up and reel in
Take advantage of the many outdoor activities that our area has to offer by participating in the Waubesa Surf ‘n Turf Challenge! Assemble a team of three and spend the day golfing at The Legend at Bergamont and fishing in Lake Waubesa on Thursday, July 9th.
