2026 Teejop Regional Guide, featuring the 2025 State of the Lakes
In the eleventh issue of the Teejop Regional Guide (formerly the Greater Madison Lake Guide), you’ll discover stories that highlight the people, places, and projects shaping our watershed. This edition explores why springs flourish around the Yahara lakes, the history and legacy of ice harvesting, and the dedicated volunteers working to protect and improve our lakes. It also features a foreword by Ho-Chunk Nation President Jon Greendeer, insights into agricultural practices that support better water quality, information about aquatic plants in our lakes, and much more.
Plus, we’ve released our 2025 State of the Lakes inside the Teejop Regional Guide. The 2025 State of the Lakes tracks and reports on the overall condition of Greater Madison’s five lakes – Mendota, Monona, Wingra, Waubesa, and Kegonsa. It looks at projects and practices on and around our lakes and provides progress snapshots on phosphorus-reducing actions occurring across a 384-square-mile watershed.
