National “Imagine a Day Without Water”
Water connects every part of our lives. On Thursday, October 15, we join communities across the nation to recognize Imagine a Day Without Water — a reminder of just how essential clean water is. From our morning coffee to the lakes where we swim, the crops that feed us, and the natural landscapes we love, life in the Yahara Watershed simply wouldn’t exist without it.
At Clean Lakes Alliance, our mission is to protect and restore the streams, lakes, and waterways that sustain our community. Through education, collaboration, and on-the-ground action, we champion watershed stewardship for the benefit of all.
Conserve An Acre: Investing in our watershed’s future
Conserve An Acre directs donor dollars to farmland conservation practices across the Yahara Watershed that prevent algae-fueling phosphorus from entering our local waterways. These dedicated funds are used to:
- Plant cover crops, which help to keep soil covered and reduce erosion and nutrient runoff
- Establish native buffer plantings along farm ditches and streams, which help filter runoff before it reaches waterways
- Establish other conservation practices that improve soil health, reduce runoff, and protect water quality
- Mobilize action around needed conservation work
- Provide targeted grants to project partners

We seek your support in October — a drop in the bucket that will ripple far beyond our shores.
