National “Imagine a Day Without Water”
Water connects every part of our lives. On Thursday, October 16th, we join communities across the nation to recognize Imagine a Day Without Water — a reminder of just how essential clean water is. From our morning coffee to the lakes where we swim, the crops that feed us, and the natural landscapes we love, life in the Yahara Watershed simply wouldn’t exist without it.
At Clean Lakes Alliance, our mission is to protect and restore the streams, lakes, and waterways that sustain our community. Through education, collaboration, and on-the-ground action, we champion watershed stewardship for the benefit of all.
Seed the Need: Investing in our watershed’s future
Our fall campaign, Seed the Need, supports local projects that protect and restore the lands and waters of the Yahara River Watershed. Running October 12–31, the campaign aims to raise $10,000, which will be matched dollar-for-dollar by a generous donor.
Funds raised will directly support efforts like:
- Building rain gardens and planting native prairies
- Creating buffer plantings along farm ditches and streams
- Securing conservation easements to protect sensitive lands
- Mobilizing volunteers for hands-on restoration work
- Providing grants to local partners advancing lake health
Every dollar helps restore the lands that feed our waters — ensuring clean, resilient lakes for future generations.
“Through Seed the Need, we’re investing in the roots of a healthy watershed, ensuring our lakes remain vibrant for generations to come,” said James Tye, Founder and Executive Director of Clean Lakes Alliance. “We’re also excited to bring a coalition of partners together as a Renew the Blue Council to implement needed action.”

We seek your support in October — a drop in the bucket that will ripple far beyond our shores.
