Our scenic Loop the Lake Bike Ride around Lake Monona features five fun stops along the way. After all, we are riding for our five favorite lakes! Join us Saturday, June 15th at Olbrich Park. Your registration will help support important lake improvement projects, water quality monitoring, and educational programs.

Clean Lakes Alliance volunteer monitors see improvements and mixed results

MADISON, Wis. — Clean Lakes Alliance has released results from the 2016 monitoring season on lakes Mendota, Monona, Wingra, Waubesa and Kegonsa. Over the past three years, the volunteer-based program has grown into an extensive 70-site effort to track water conditions near the shore, where most people interact with our lakes.

“Although Monona is confined to less than 3.5 square miles of total land size, we are blessed with more than four miles of waterfront on Lake Monona and the Yahara River. This waterfront represents one of the crown jewels of our community. We work closely with Clean Lakes Alliance on water-related projects from the annual Loop the Lake bike ride to promoting our brand new, state-of-the-art Lottes Park boat ramp. Clean Lakes Alliance has been very responsive in supporting our aggressive stormwater treatment programs, where we replace a number of old and decaying stormwater outlets with baffle systems to remove sediment and pollutants.
