Community Volunteer Day – August 2026
August 27 @ 2:00 pm – 4:15 pm
Join Clean Lakes Alliance and the UW Lakeshore Nature Preserve for a community volunteer day to help our lakes! We’ll be at UW Lakeshore Nature Preserve on Thursday, August 27, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. We’ll be removing invasive species near Picnic Point.
Removing invasive species allows our native species to thrive and do what they do best — capture and filter runoff before it can enter our lakes. Our native species are well-adapted to mitigate flooding, provide valuable habitats for pollinators and wildlife, and stabilize soil to prevent erosion. The more native plants we have surrounding our shores, the healthier our lakes will be!

All tools will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothes for outside work, and bring a water bottle and sun protection. Closed-toed shoes and pants are required to best protect from bugs, poisonous plants, and scratches. Meet at the entrance to Picnic Point, near Lot 130.
