Thank you for helping make Frozen Assets unforgettable!
Thank you for helping Clean Lakes Alliance turn frozen lakes into a full-on celebration! Our annual Frozen Assets Festival and 5K Run/Walk brought people together and put winter lake appreciation front and center.

Since 2012, Frozen Assets has raised more than $1,400,000 for lake improvement projects, educational programs, and water quality monitoring. Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor CG Schmidt, Hosting Sponsor The Edgewater, and our other sponsors for making this community event possible. We’d also like to thank the dozens of volunteers who helped make Frozen Assets a success!
The changing climate and changing winter weather has meant we are thinking about runoff control and lake protection year round. Now more than ever, Clean Lakes Alliance needs YOUR help to keep our waters clean and healthy. Donate to join Clean Lakes Alliance today and make a difference for our lakes.
Check out some fun Frozen Assets highlights:
Happy Hour Summit
Local leaders and community members gathered on Wednesday to learn about broader stewardship actions that are being coordinated through the Renew the Blue Council, a cross-sector coalition convened by Clean Lakes Alliance to achieve swimmable lakes, resilient landscapes, and a thriving watershed community. See photos from the event.

Winter Warmup
We started the Frozen Assets Festival with a Winter Warmup led by barre3 Madison. This workout got our blood pumping and warmed our bodies before the Frozen Assets 5K on Lake Mendota.

Frozen Assets 5K Run/Walk
More than 1,100 participants ran, walked, and moved in one of the only 5Ks in the world held entirely on a frozen lake. Funds raised will stay in our community to benefit our local lakes. See 5K results. Special thanks to Wisconsin Distributors for providing a free Michelob Ultra for our participants after the event. See photos from the Frozen Assets 5K.

Snow Snake Contest
We were lucky enough to bring back the Snow Snake Contest in partnership with Ho-Chunk Nation. It was a fun introduction to the ancient and culturally significant game played throughout Indigenous history.

Winter fun reaches new heights
Frozen Assets attendees were treated to a winter wonderland of sights — towering show kites soaring over frozen Lake Mendota, the legendary Mary B. Ice Boat, skydivers leaping from the sky, ice fishing demos, and so much more!

Family fun on & off the ice
Festival-goers were able to enjoy fun activities like ice skating, lake hockey, snowshoeing, ballet performances, crafts, songs, and educational demonstrations from UW Center for Limnology, Aldo Leopold Nature Center, and Project IceCube. Kids of all ages enjoyed gallons of free hot chocolate, too!

Thank you to our sponsors!
