Lake Waubesa Conservation Association primed to take action

Lake Waubesa Conservation Association and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources approved a comprehensive lake management plan in late 2024. The plan presents an up-to-date analysis of historical and current water quality data, the unique wetlands, and phosphorus inputs from rural and urban land uses. The plan presents dozens of recommendations to protect and improve the lake.

I work for Clean Lakes Alliance as the Marketing and Communications Associate Manager and I am a Meteorologist. The forgotten and sometimes unknown pieces of our watershed

“Behold the things we cannot see.” Take a moment to think about that sentence. What does it mean? We are so plugged in these days, but there is an abundance of information we can absorb that isn’t on Google or in a text book. There are actions occurring all around us. We may not know those things are happening, but we must trust and behold those occurrences – even if we cannot see the processes happening.

Waubesa Wetlands

Wetlands provide many services to our communities: they protect us from flooding, clean and filter water, recharge our groundwater, protect our shorelines and provide habitat for fish and wildlife. They also provide opportunities for education and outdoor recreation, an important driver for tourism in Wisconsin.
