Canoe and kayak rentals are available through Outdoor UW.  \n\n\n\nMornings on Mendota is a FREE\, family-friendly event at the Memorial Union in Madison! Explore the Lake Mendota ecosystem and learn how to be good lake stewards with Clean Lakes Alliance and Dr. Shakhashiri of “Science is Fun.” \n\n\n\nNOTE: Boat seating is limited. Click here to sign up for a free boat ride. \n\n\n\nActivity Schedule\n\n\n\n10:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. \n\n\n\nWatch Dr. Shakhashiri as he explores the chemistry of water in a short presentation\n\n\n\n11 a.m. – Noon \n\n\n\nTake a FREE pontoon or sailboat ride on Lake Mendota (registration required)Experiment with the effects of salt and water color paint to achieve the “sparkle” effectExplore Dr. Shakhasiri’s interactive stations\n\n\n\nPontoon Boat Ride\n\n\n\nThere will be two pontoon boats to give tours at 11 and 11:30 a.m. Boats will take pre-registered people out on a first come basis\, so no need to register for a specific time. To reserve a spot\, register on Eventbrite! \n\n\n\nSailboat Ride\n\n\n\nThere will be one sailboat ride from 11 a.m. to noon. Boats will take pre-registered people on the ride. To reserve a spot\, register on Eventbrite! \n\n\n\nNOTE: Children under age 5 cannot participate and children ages 5-8 must be in the same craft as the parent.  \n\n\n\nAbout Dr. Shakhashiri\n\n\n\nDr. Shakhashiri is the master of chemical demonstrations\, as well as a professor of chemistry\, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison! Join us for three Saturdays filled with watershed education programs and hands-on activities for adults and children of all ages.
