We will continue the tradition of bringing together our watershed’s premier scientists\, business and organizational leaders\, heads of government\, and officials from the Ho-Chunk Nation to learn more about the lakes (originally known as Teejop) and new opportunities for continued collaboration and progress.  \n\n\n\nClean Lakes Alliance and its fellow Yahara CLEAN Compact members will highlight the latest science and Renew the Blue stakeholder guidance that will direct future cleanup actions. \n\n\n\nAbout our keynote speaker\n\n\n\nSamantha Skenandore is a Federal Indian and Tribal Law-experienced attorney for Quarles\, and an enrolled member of the Ho-Chunk Nation. She previously served as an elected Associate Justice for the Ho-Chunk Nation Supreme Court. SUMMARY:Rain Garden Workshop
DESCRIPTION:This workshop will cover benefits\, considerations and design strategies related to rain gardens. The morning session will involve an indoor presentation with Q&A designed to give participants the knowledge and resources needed to install down spout or rain gardens of their own. \n\n\n\nAfter lunch\, we will roll up our sleeves and get some hands-on experience\, working together on a rain garden install on the Monastery grounds. The afternoon portion is optional and space is limited. To be included in this part\, check ‘I want participate in the afternoon hands-on garden planting’ when registering. If this checkbox is unavailable\, this session has reached capacity. \n\n\n\nThis event is hosted in partnership with our friends at Holy Wisdom Monastery. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSchedule\n\n\n\n10:00 am – Indoor presentation with Q&A\, resource sharing12:00 pm – Lunch1:00 pm – Outdoor rain garden install (optional\, space is limited) \n\n\n\nLeader\n\n\n\nUW Extension Lakes Educator Paul Skawinski will lead this workshop. He is the author and photographer of the popular field guide Aquatic Plants of the Upper Midwest\, now in its fourth edition. In addition to his position at Extension Lakes\, Paul also teaches Aquatic Plant Taxonomy at UW-Stevens Point and has been working with aquatic ecosystem management for nearly 20 years. \n\n\n\nLocation\n\n\n\nThis is an in-person event at Holy Wisdom Monastery \n\n\n\nCost\n\n\n\n$25/person \n\n\n\nRegistration\n\n\n\nPlease register by May 2\, 2023.
