SUMMARY:Community Volunteer Day - Sept. 17th
DESCRIPTION:Join Clean Lakes Alliance and the City of Madison Parks team to remove invasive species from Olbrich Park on Wednesday\, September 17th from 8:45 – 11:00 a.m. \n\n\n\n\nSIGN UP TO VOLUNTEER\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBy controlling invasive species\, volunteers enable the growth of more beneficial native vegetation\, thereby improving the ecosystem’s capacity to absorb stormwater runoff\, and filter harmful contaminants from reaching the lakes\, recharge aquifers\, stabilize shorelines\, mitigate erosion\, and provide wildlife and pollinator habitat. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAll volunteers are welcome\, including chaperoned children. Tools\, gloves\, and training will be provided. We’ll review what plants we’re targeting and how our actions will improve water quality. \n\n\n\nAll volunteers are required to wear closed-toed shoes and pants. Long layers are recommended to best protect yourself from the sun\, bugs\, and scratches. We encourage you to bring a water bottle and sun protection. \n\n\n\nPlan to meet at the Olbrich Playground\, near the Botanical Gardens.
